:: About Us
The business was started in 1952 when we bought the garage on the
Green in Talgarth. From there we started to sell fuel, service and
repair cars and motorbikes. In addition to the motor trade we also
took on blacksmithing work, mainly shoeing horses for the local
hospitals.
With Talgarth being situated in a large agricultural area, it was
not long before we started to buy, sell, service and repair, new
and used agricultural machinery. The agricultural side of things
soon started to outgrow the commercial side of the business, so
it became our main focus. As the business grew, we purchased the
neighbouring yard (previously a sawmills) to help cope with the
demand.
From then on we started to sell Ifor Williams trailers (being appointed
main distributor for Powys), and soon got other major machinery
manufacturers to supply us, so we met all our customers requirements.
In addition to supplying local farmers with machinery, we began
agricultural contracting, mainly consisting of manure spreading
and combining, (where at one point we had ten combines on the go).
In the early sixties we purchased another yard (Belmont works)
seven miles down the road, in Hay-On-Wye. From there we were appointed
the International Harvester franchise.
In the mid eighties we sold Belmont works so we could concentrate
on Talgarth, and also to give us an opportunity to move into farming.
As time progressed and trends changed we decided to concentrate
on the supply of machinery and thus gave up the contracting business.
This has enabled us to increase our customer base and further improve
our reputation at providing a variety of equipment and after-service
for all our customers needs.
Today we are distributors for 20+ manufacturers. Not only do we
supply new and used equipment, but we also provide a full repair
service, as well stocking a large quantity of parts.
